Sensei Samantha Todd
Hi my name is Samantha Todd, and I got involved in karate because of my little sister. There was a knock at the door and a local club were promoting themselves. She decided to attend and trained for over a year before I allowed myself to be talked into attending a class.
It was the best thing I ever did! I was instantly hooked and soon began training twice a week. I earned my Green Belt, but then had to leave as I had changed jobs and location. Once I returned, I soon got back into karate and made it my mission to get my Black Belt. At the time I was training under Sensei Paul Wolstencroft. I graded on the 21st March 2010. I then had between 6 - 12 months before I could Grade to my 1st Dan, which I did on the 31st October 2010. I am proud to say that though a different grading system, on the 25th September 2011 whilst under instruction and assessment from Black Panther’s Cheif Instructor Sensei Alan Wood (8th Dan), I graded to my 2nd Degree.
I have attended many seminars across the country held by world renowned champions, and I have been to training camps in the Winter and our Great British ’Summer’. I have also won 3 x Gold Medals in 2 tournaments, 1 for Kata and 2 for Kumite.
Karate provides such a great add-on to your social life. I have met amazing people through karate and have had some great times and I am looking forward to the new ones ahead.
The students that I am lucky enough to teach bring so much joy to me. I am so thankful to be able to take them on their karate journey, and I am so excited for when they get their Black Belts!
I love to see the students’ achievements as they enter the class as shy people and develop into more confident karateka as their skills develop. It is so rewarding and is a personal motivation.
I am currently training hard towards my next personal objective which my 3rd Dan under Sensie Alan Wood (8th Dan).
I love karate and wish to encourage more students into our traditional Martial Art.
